Student Professional Learning Communities (S-PLCs): PHV at the Graz Primary School Congress 2024 – Proceedings chapter now available (Open Access)

As part of the LeaFaP consortium, University of Education Vorarlberg presented its work on Student Professional Learning Communities (S-PLCs) at the Graz Primary School Congress 2024 (Grazer Grundschulkongress). We are pleased to share that the contribution is now published in the official conference proceedings—and the full volume is open access and freely available. In the chapter, Silvia Pichler, Katharine Rümmele, and Anne Frey discuss S-PLCs as a collaborative format supporting student teachers’ competence development and their engagement with key developmental tasks during practicum phases. LeaFaP Transnational Project Meeting (Online)

On 26 January 2026, the LeaFaP project partners met for a Transnational Project Meeting via Zoom to finalise the last details of our free online training programme on Professional Learning Communities. Webinar in Greece: Learning Communities in Action: The Role of Inquiry and Reflection

Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece (AUTH) held a webinar entitled “Learning Communities in Action: The Role of Inquiry and Reflection” on the 19th of January. The presentation was made by Professor Sofia Avgitidou. In total, 99 teachers, heads, school advisors and University professors participated at the seminar free of charge. The key dimensions, necessary prerequisites, and the significance of the school’s operation as a learning community were presented, along with the challenges that arise from the implementation of such an approach within the existing Greek institutional framework. Save the Date: International Conference on Professional Learning Communities

We are excited to announce the upcoming final conference of our Erasmus+ project LeaFaP. Mark your calendars for April 27 & 28, 2026! Over the past three years, our consortium of researchers and practitioners from across Europe has focused on the essential skills required to effectively lead Professional Learning Communities (PLCs). The result is a comprehensive, inquiry-based online training program, which will be launched and made available to schools free of charge starting next spring. Coming up: Webinar on PLC and guiding tools for a successful establishment on February 6th, 2026

Within the series of LeaFaP Webinars the German and South Tyrolian partners connect their second Webinar on PLCs with a one-day-conference focussing on personnel development of pre-school leaders including training for establishing PLCs in their organization. Both, the conference and the webinar will be run in German. LeaFaP at ECER 2025: Facilitating the Facilitators of Professional Learning Communities

Leafap Erasmus+ participated in the European Conference on Educational Research (ECER) “Charting the way forward: Education, Research, Potentials and Perspectives” which took place in Belgrade, Serbia, 8-12 September 2025. Our Greek partner, Professor Sofia Avgitidou from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki had the opportunity to share LEAFAP’s developments with colleagues from different countries regarding the facilitation of professional learning communities (PLCs) based on inquiry-based and reflective practices. Looking back at EARLI 2025 in Graz (25–29 August 2025)

As the LeaFaP Consortium, we were proud to contribute to the conference with our symposium on “Multi-Level Extension to the Concept of Professional Learning Communities”. We discussed how Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) can be extended and supported across different educational levels. Looking Ahead: LeaFaP Meeting in Málaga & Marbella
